Based on what I have learned, The Behavioral School of Thought is defined as theory that helps us to understand the reason why we behave as we do. Besides that, this particular theory help us to find out our interest in identifying how external, environmental, stimuli cause overt or observable learner behavior and how modifying a learner's environment can change behavior.
Besides that, I also learned about the term "Contiguity" which means the sequential occurrence or proximity of stimulus and response, causing their association in the mind. It also refers to the simple stimulus-response (S-R) pairing, associations, or connections, such as lightning and thunder, which occur closely together.
In addition to this topic, I also learned about the term " Classical Conditioning" which means the learning process that occurs when two stimuli are repeatedly paired or a response that is first elicited by the second stimulus is eventually elicited by the first stimulus alone. This particular theory was introduced by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist.
I also managed to learn about " Social learning" which is also known as " Observational learning". Social learning theory that is introduced by Bandura posits that learning is a cognitive process that take place in a social context and can occur purely through observation or direct instruction, even in the absence of motor reproduction or direct reinforcement. In addition to this topic, learning process also can occurs through the observation of rewards and punishments which is process that known as Vicarious Reinforcement.
On the other hands, when it comes to classroom management, it all about managing a classroom effectively by using effective and relevant methods or techniques. In terms of education context, classroom management is the term that is frequently used by teachers to illustrate the process of assuring that classroom lessons occurs smoothly despite disruptive behavior by students. This term also entails the prevention of disruptive behavior of students in future.
I think I will end here. This is all from me. Thanks for viewing by blog and giving feedback from time to time. I will be back for a new topic next week. Thank you.
Exactly! Nicely done! Behaviorism is very important for an effective class management. I hope students stimulate and respond well in your class in future, abhi. All the best future teacher.

ReplyDeleteThanks my dear friend. Behavioral element is really important in order to understand the student's needs as well and also like what you have mentioned, also helpful in producing an effective classroom management. Thanks for you feedback.

ReplyDeleteGreat job in explaining the behavioral school of thought. Especially the four main concepts. It is very important to know and understand each one of your students in the classroom as well as their needs. Every student is different. Therefore as an educator, we must make sure that their needs are taken care of in a proper way .I just want to add something that is the approaches to behaviorism which can be used during t&l process. Those are mastery learning where teachers allow students to learn the academic materials at their own learning pace, programmed instruction where the teachers must organize the teaching materials to be learned, Computer assisted learning where teachers make use of IT gadgets in order to present programmed instructions rather then just using 'chalk and talk' that will bore the students. Do bare this in mind too when it comes to behaviorism teaching. Good luck!!
